BIO (12/07/2018):  Curly has only been in her foster home a short while, but she walked in and made herself right at home!  She’s a funny little lady who has obviously been pretty significantly overweight at one time, and now that she is at an almost ideal weight, has a “skin ruffle” around her neck and chest.  But it does not detract from her beauty and charm!  Curly is very frisky and playful, and does not look or act her age.  She likes to talk and moan and groan, especially when having her tummy rubbed or she wants to get your attention.  Curly loves her blanket and her dog bed, and hoards all the toys in the house in her bed.  When she gets tired at night, she covers herself up in her bed and goes to sleep.

Curly is a sweet little girl who likes people and likes to be wherever her people are.  She appears to prefer the company of women to men.  If a couple are considering adopting Curly, the male will need to prepare to be patient with her, and go at her pace.  She would make a wonderful companion for someone who is home a lot and needs someone to have a conversation with!

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Likes to play with toys

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
