BIO (10/22/2018): Admiral was left in the overnight drop box at an animal shelter. He was very thin, covered in fleas, and missing quite a bit of hair. The shelter staff started him on the road to recovery. Admiral now weighs a healthy 8 pounds and has grown back most of his hair. He has a hole through one of his ears and raggedy edges on both, but once his ear hair grows back you would never know. His teeth were in bad shape and he lost most of them, but he has no problem eating dry food that has been softened in a little water. He has dry eyes and needs eye drops daily. Simple saline drops do the trick.
Admiral is a nice little dog. He loves people! He is a little timid at first and will crouch low when approached by new people. Once he realizes you are okay, he will roll over for a belly rub and follow you around the house. He is leash trained, housebroken, and crate trained. If left for extended periods he will use a pee pad. He will need some supervision at first, but once he learns the rules, he is fine. Admiral gets along well with other small dogs. He would probably be okay with cats too and we can introduce him to some if needed. Because of his small size, he would do best with older children who understand that they must be gentle with him. At night he sleeps peacefully in his crate, but he would be very happy to sleep with his people too.
