BIO UPDATE (3/16/2019):
Armand came to AADR Rescue from a terrible 52 dog hoarding situation. Scared and confused, it took about a week of "forced" family interactions before he decided he wanted to socialize. All things take time with him. You’ll need to be patient to see the end results of this cutie. He is tentative of most people at first, but after awhile he warms up. He is learning that baths are not that bad and that if he is a good boy he will get a treat. He enjoys a good meal, nice long walks and toys.... Lots of toys.

He loves other dogs.  He really would do best with another well-socialized dog that he can copy and learn what it’s like to be a beloved pet.

Armand’s ideal family would be a family with older children willing to help him work through all his insecurities. He is working really hard on his manners, but when he gets excited they seem to go out the window. He needs someone to make an investment in him.  I guarantee it will be the best investment you could ever make! He truly deserves his own family.

Oh, did we mention that because he has an under bite his tongue sticks out all the time about a half inch? Talk about CUTE!!!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Cratetrained, Timid, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
