BIO (9/18/2018): Hi everyone! I'm Baxter, a two-year-old, 10.7-pound male dachshund and I'm available for adoption! I just arrived in Virginia on Saturday (9/15). I'm originally from Atlanta where a Good Samaritan helped me and my brother, Bucky, after we had been dumped on the street. We were then sent to Tennessee to this place called a rescue where we were seen by a vet and neutered. Overall, I’m healthy! I am on the thin side so my foster mom is trying to fatten me up (but just a bit, it’s important that us dachshunds stay fit!).
Then off I went to meet my foster family in VA and my brother went off to a foster home in NY. I was sooooo scared! When I got to VA I wouldn't come out of my crate for hours, wouldn't eat or drink. Too much change for a furbaby, you know? But here I am a few days later and look at me! I've made new fur friends, play with toys (I LOVE to play with balls – if you throw it I’ll bring it back!), learned how to take walks on a leash, and have been pottying outside. My foster mom says I've had no accidents as long as I'm on a schedule. My legs are a little longer than the typical dachshund and my foster family was surprised to find out that I could jump a gate (3 feet!) so just so you know, if I’m going to be in a gated area, I’ll need a taller gate (I’m just too smart…lol!).
Now I just need to find my forever family. Could it be you? Or maybe you know someone who would love a loyal friend like me? If you think I might be a good addition to your family, please feel free to contact my foster mom with questions.
Thanks,
Baxter
P.S. - wish me luck in my search!
