BIO:   Bella-Ginger is a puppy mill survivor who was adopted from AADR in 2009.  She came back to rescue when her owner could no longer care for her.  Bella-Ginger lived a good life with her adopter.  She was very well cared for and is in excellent health.  She is a nice light red color with dappled ears and a little silver on her muzzle.

Bella-Ginger is leash trained, house trained, and friendly with dogs and people.  She has not been around cats, but we can see how she does if needed.  She is crate trained, but has not spent much time crated because she is so well-behaved in the house.  At night she sleeps in a dog bed, but would prefer to sleep with her people.

Bella-Ginger has a fun personality!  She knows her name and comes running when called.  She loves to go for walks and meet new people.  During the day, she stays in a dog friendly room.  She sometimes enjoys a chew toy.  She will use a pee pad if needed.  She would enjoy a fenced yard, but would be fine with several daily leash walks outside.

  Bella-Ginger is a sweet girl who is ready to add some happiness to her new home! 

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
