BIO UPDATE (9/17/2018): Annie Mae is doing so well with her weight, now 22 pounds!!  Annie Mae is getting around the yard so much better and loving her walks.

This little one is ready for her own home and family to share her joy for life!

BIO (8/10/2018): Annie Mae is just one great dachshund who you fall in love with instantly!  She came into rescue when her family couldn’t care for her.  We hope to find her a home where she’ll have a fenced yard (hopefully a doggie door too) and someone who is home a lot.

Annie is a happy, happy girl!  She likes nothing better than to run full speed in the fenced yard while you watch her, or she’ll help you work in the yard.  Wherever you are, that’s where she likes to be.  Annie needs the yard-running so she can continue with her weight loss.

Annie is crate trained and will sleep all night in her crate.  I know she would love to sit on the couch with her people and she will also settle down in bed next to you.  She loves car rides and walks on a leash!  We are looking for someone who is retired, or a stay-at-home person, that has a fenced yard and loves to go for walks.

We know you’re out there looking for that special girl to call your own.  So, don’t wait too long... she’ll be adopted and you’ll be sorry you didn’t jump when you first saw her on this website!  Annie Mae is looking for her Furever Home - are you the one for this great girl!?!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
