BIO (8/1/2018): Lucky is a senior boy with a friendly personality and a soft silky coat. In his previous home, he snapped at a young child who fell on him. For the child's safety and Lucky’s, he needed to find a new home. Fortunately, AADR was there to help.
Lucky is a great little dog! He is leash trained, housebroken, and crate trained. Because he is so well-behaved, Lucky has not spent much time crated. He will bark when he needs to go out and will use a pee pad if he is left for extended periods. He gets along well with other small dogs. He mostly keeps to himself, so he would be fine as an only dog. He would probably be fine with a cat too and we can introduce him to some if needed. At night Lucky sleeps peacefully on his blanket, but he would be happy to sleep with his people too.
Lucky is deaf. He gets along just fine, but if he is sleeping you must take care not to startle him or he may snap. A gentle nudge of his bed is enough to let him know you are there. Lucky must be securely leashed at all times or in a fenced yard because if he gets lost he won't hear you calling for him.
Lucky barks when he is first left in the morning, but quiets down quickly. He also barks if you are in a different room and he can't find you. For these reasons, he would not be a good apartment dog. Lucky is friendly with new people. He would be happiest in a home with no young children. He enjoys going for walks, belly rubs, and sitting in a lap. He is pretty low key.
