BIO (7/11/2018):  Hello my name is Chewy, and no, I am not a dachshund!  I lived in a very poor county in western Kentucky.  This community is overrun by animals.  Had AADR not saved me, I would have died.  So, here I am.

I just came to my foster home on July 7th.  I am cute as a button and I get along with other dogs just fine.  They have a cat and this thing is HUGE!  He's two of me.  I bark at him and he walks away.  They have grandchildren that visit and they’re A-ok with me.  I sit with them and they give me hugs.  I love to take walks.  I would like a fenced yard but not a chain link fence, I can climb them!  I am crated at night, but am not real fond of that.

I am looking for someone who is home most of the time.  I thrive on attention and affection.  I need a forever home that will love me and treat me like another family member, not just a pet.  I have been given a second chance to live the life I deserve.

Should you have any questions, email my foster mom Celeste.  She will get back to you and be more than happy to talk about me.

Thank you for reading about me,

Chewy

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
