CHESTER or R-4 was one of the Sparta, TN puppymill dogs that they shut down. All these dogs were in horrible/neglected shape and it's taken us over a month to get them well enough to start putting them on the website. I am sure that CHESTER thinks he has died and gone to heaven because he has free access to the outside and can come in and out as he pleases. He is a bit shy but is getting better and better every day. Anyone interested in adopting this boy should understand that these dogs are going to take time to adjust and BE PETS. If you are willing to help a poor puppymill survivor please fill out an app for CHESTER. He has lost a lot of his teeth at his young age due to his neglect He may need to be on soft food for life but he's not complaining. Please adopt him and give him a home he so richly deserves because he has paid his dues to the greedy!!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
