BIO (6/22/2018):  Hello, I’m Maggie (Mag Pies)! I am dainty, proper and prim. I have excellent manners. I would not object if you wanted to hold me all day or let me lay on your lap or next to you. Quiet is my game, unless someone comes to the door, then a “hey no bark” lets me know that you have it handled and I’m good with that. I like to lay on the sofa, but I am so little that I need steps to get up there, or I use the mommyvator, or daddyvator (that’s what I call my human elevator).

I like little dogs, but I am leery of big dogs, even gentle ones like the Collie I live with at my foster home. There are two other mini dachshunds here and I get along great with them. There are lots of toys here and every now and then I will decide to carry one, but I’m not sure what to do with it. When it is time to eat or go to bed, I readily go in my kennel/crate. I love my blanket and I use it every night to hide under. Do you like to go for rides in the car? I absolutely love going for a ride, the longer the better. I walk great on a leash and I have a cute wiggle when I walk!

People say I’m adorable, or call me cutie pie, hence my nickname Mag Pies. I love the sun, because it keeps me warm. Us short haired girls will need to wear clothes in the winter. I just learned that when the oven is on it blows out lots of heat near the bottom, so I lay right in front of it to soak up all of the heat.

Write my foster mom or dad if you think you would like to adopt me and make me your glamour girl.

Love to love you,

Maggie

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
