BIO (6/17/2018):  Get ready to meet one of the sweetest bundle of joys you have ever met!!  Tank is one of the best foster dogs his foster daddy has had yet, and his daddy has liked ALL of his past fosters.

Tank is just over 10 months old and still has a lot of his puppy tendencies.  By that, we mean that he LOVES to play and be around his people.  Tank came into rescue because his past family had some legal issues and had to give him up.  His foster daddy thinks that there might have been a heavy hand along the way because Tank cowers when you stand over him and is hesitant to let you pick him up.  He is getting better and better though and once you earn his trust, he is just the sweetest cuddle bug you have ever met!

Tank LOVES to play.  There are three mini doxies in his foster home and the youngest is a very precocious female Chiweenie that Tank loves to play with and chase around the house. Sometimes a male AADR alum comes over to visit and Tank plays and plays until they are both tuckered out!

For being so young, Tank has had few accidents in the house.  He has yet to soil his crate, although he does not like his crate if he knows you are nearby.  Tank can be a bit vocal at times as well.  He is especially vocal when he sees you at the table and he thinks you need to give him a treat.  We are working on that.  Tank loves the big bed and loves to get in your lap and watch TV.  We are recommending that if a potential adopter has kids that the children be a little on the older side.  No toddlers please.  Also, no cats.

Tank is a GREAT dog and will give years of wonderful companionship.  Could you be that special household that would give a forever home to this very special little dog?

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Leashtrained, Cratetrained, Playful, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
