BIO:  Luna is a happy little dachshund-chihuahua mix who was taken to an animal shelter in NC because her owners had too many dogs.  She is a little shy when she first meets new people, but it just takes a moment before she is wagging her tail.  Luna is leash trained, housebroken, and crate trained.  Luna will sleep in a crate or dog bed at night, but would also be happy to sleep with her people.  She gets along with other dogs, but is very interested in cats we see on our walks, so she would probably chase them if they ran.  She does well with children who are old enough to understand that they must be gentle with her.

If you are looking for a ray of sunshine in a plain brown wrapper, Luna is the girl for you!

More about Luna in PA

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
