BIO (6/12/2018):  Dolly came from Alabama when her daddy passed away, and that’s why she loves her foster daddy.  You will find her many times in his lap or in his chair when he’s not home.

So, ladies if you have your dachshund and you want your husband to have his buddy, then Dolly would fit that bill.  She has to have a fenced yard and if you don’t watch her, she’d love to scoot out the gate to go on an adventure.  So, it has to be a family that is familiar with the breed and how they like to hunt with their noses.

She is house broken but will need to be on a strict schedule and she’d like it better if you went out with her while she does her business.

Dolly is low energy and would rather lay in a doggie bed or your lap than go for long walks, but I’m sure she’d be happy with a nice stroll around the neighborhood.

If you are looking to add another little girl to your home and your husband wants a companion, then Dolly is just what he’s looking for!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
