Valerie is a rescue from the shelter; she had run out of time. She is a beautiful and healthy young girl. She is totally friendly to all people. She does bark when she first sees you but quickly quiets down and just wants to be loved.
Valerie is the Belle of the Ball and it’s all about her. She is a 2-year-old beauty and ready for her coming out party. Valerie is an under the cover snuggler and loves to sleep in the big bed. Oh what Valerie? …
Hi I’m Valerie and my foster mom said I could say hello. I’m just a girl who wants to have fun. I love to play outside and chase the ball. Mom always wants it back but I want to keep it from her. I like to dig a little but so far I haven’t gotten into much trouble for it. I do see this other animal in the window sometimes from the yard when I am playing and I even see it in the house- my foster mom says it’s a cat. When I bark it goes away so I can get the attention that I deserve. After a hard day in the yard, I like to lie in the sun on the porch after playing and just take a beauty nap. Whew I’m tired after all this right now. Nap time!
Valerie IS all that and a bag of chips. She gets along well with her foster brothers and sister Dachshunds, however she is unfamiliar with cats and chases and barks at them so far.

Ahhhhhhhhh Valerie is a star. She would be best in a home without young children. Children over 12 would be better or young adults that can learn to respect the dachshunds’ breed and their behavior. Valerie is mostly potty trained- she does not know how to let you know except by jumping up and then going in circles. She is on a schedule right now and we go out to the yard and she does her business. At night Valerie does go on a potty pad and then goes right back to bed. She doesn’t bark to be let out yet or wake you up. When she is awake though she makes the cutest little “love” noises to let you know she cares and loves you.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
