BIO:  Gunner - yes, that’s my name!  I was an owner surrender from Tennessee.  I was tormented and terrorized by a four- and a six-year-old in the household.  This caused me great fear and I have been in defense mode ever since.  I am skittish at first, but warm up with time.

Wow!  Now I’m in my Foster Mommy’s home - such a difference in environment!  I have foster siblings and a fenced yard to play in.  I have a Foster Mommy who shows me special attention, and gives me lots of love and affection.

I have no food aggression or submissive urination.  My Foster Mommy says I am 100% puppy.  I love to run and play all the time. You better keep an eye out.  If you are not looking, I may sneak and play with your shoes/slippers and jump on the table if the chair isn’t pushed in all the way.

In the evening I enjoy snuggling on my Foster Mommy’s lap with my siblings under the blanket.  And, I look forward to sleeping in the big bed at night.

My Foster Mommy took me to the nursing home and I was loved by so many people!  Lots of love and affection!  I showed respect and no fear during my visit.

AADR wants the BEST for me, therefore I need a home with NO children under twelve years of age.  I need a home with another doxie playmate and a fenced yard too.  I need a Forever Home that is willing to teach me and take the time to help me recapture the puppyhood that I so much missed out on.  I need a family who will protect and care for me.  If you are looking for your Best Friend, open up your heart and home and I will love you Forever!

More about Gunner in NY

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
