The Adoption Board wants Jacob's family to have a fenced yard, no children under 10 years old, a stay at home mom or dad, and another young dog to play with since he loves to play, play, play when not following mom around.  We will be picking the best family to meet his needs.

BIO UPDATE 2/4/2017:

Hey Guys, it's me Jacob!  Just wanted to give you a little update.  Things are going great in my foster home.  My foster mom is always telling me what a handsome and smart boy I am.  I now know what to do when she tells me to "sit" and she says that I am 60% wee wee pad trained.  I'm not sure what the numbers mean but I do know where to go and what to do.  However,  I still have some accidents but I'm catching on.  I also potty when we go for a walk but boy, has it been cold!  Mom has not been taking me out a lot but spring is on the way.  I can't wait.   Well, that's all for now.  Catch you again soon for more updates.  Love, Jacob

BIO:  Hi, Jacob here!  I’m a short-haired, smooth coat, chocolate and tan dapple, purebred Dachshund.  I love my coloring because not many other dachshunds look like me!  My foster mom says I’m an absolute cutie who loves to snuggle, give kisses, and follow her around everywhere!  I lived in a puppy mill in Tennessee my whole life then I was surrendered to AADR.  And thank heavens I was saved!  Now I’m as happy as can be.

I love taking leashed walks and my favorite place to be is on my foster mom’s lap.  I really love playing with my foster brothers and sisters so if you have a pup that loves to play...that would be super!!  I’m a young pup who has a lot of energy so if you like playing and walking, I’m up for it!  It would be great if someone in my new family worked from home or is home most of the time since I don’t like to be left alone too long, especially at night.  I love belly rubs and meeting new people. I’m thin right now, but I have a huge appetite.  I’m not use to playing with toys or chewing bones yet but maybe one day (paws crossed).

When I find my fur-ever home I can promise whoever adopts me will have a loyal slumber buddy, a lifetime of slobbery kisses and a permanent lap companion!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Leashtrained, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
