BIO: Maddy came from East Tennessee when her owners could no longer keep her.  They had bigger dogs and they didn’t get along so it was best to give her up to rescue.

Maddy is a shy girl but warms up pretty quickly and just wants to be loved and have attention.  She would be great with someone that works from home or a newly retired couple.  She does fine with males and females and would be fine either being an only dog or with another.  But she can only be an only dog if you aren’t gone for extended periods of time.  She’d like it better if you’d take her with you!  She’ll follow you all around the house and yard and for that reason we have to say a fenced yard is best.

Consider giving Maddy a new home, a new life for the beginning of the new year.  She will give you a ton of kisses for your efforts!

Maddy’s weight will need to be monitored because she was a little fluffy when she came into rescue.  She worked and got it off and now she’s asking you to help her keep it off.

Oh, and NO CATS... she hates them!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
