BIO (4/11/2018):

Hey everybody, Crystal here!  I know the first thing you want to know is how a beautiful girl like me ended up on a web page for dachshunds.  Well this is how it is.  I came from shelter in North Carolina where I was dropped off with 7 of my dachshund buddies.  AADR took us in and promised to find us all loving, forever homes.  It wasn't long before my foster mom came and picked me up.  I was really shy the first couple of days with my foster family, but boy, have things changed.  I am now charming them all with my great personality.

I am a petite and pretty little girl, if I do say so myself.  My foster mom tells me how sweet I am and is always hugging me and giving me kisses.  That’s OK with me!  My favorite thing in this whole world is to snooze in a lap while my human reads a good book or we catch a movie together on tv.  I also like to take walks and really like going to the local park.  At night I sleep in my crate but, you know, I’m thinking I might like to share the big bed with you!  What do you think?  I also stay in my crate when the family is away from home.

I get along great with my big sister, Cassie and my brother, Lincoln.  I need a fenced yard where I can play and if you have a doggie buddy for me, that would be awesome!

Foster mom says I should tell you that I am house-trained but I’m not sure a Southern lady discusses that with someone to whom she has not been properly introduced.

I am not a big barker.  I do bark at the ducks and squirrels at the park but, hey, what pup worth her salt doesn’t?!  I also bark when the door bell rings.  One never knows what evil lurks on the other side of that door and I must alert my peeps.

I enjoy riding in the car and I am such a little one, taking me with you would not be a problem.  I would love sharing all kinds of adventures.  For my safety, Foster Mom usually has me in a crate when I am in the car but I do well on my rides.  I also do well meeting strangers.

I must tell you that I do not like small children.  They make me nervous and I have been known to growl at them.

When I came into rescue I had a vet check and a dental.  Everything is going great health-wise except I get the itchies with my seasonal allergies.  I take a medication when I get them and it keeps them under control.

If you want to know more about me, email my foster mom.  She loves talking about me!

Will you be the one to love me forever and ever?

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
