BIO (update 12/15/2017):  * ** Amos MUST have a fenced yard and another young dog to play with***

Hello, my name is Amos!  I currently live in Benson, NC.  I have been with my Foster Parents a little while now and they have gotten to know me better.  Their first impression of me was I was going to be a great dog for someone... which is absolutely correct!  They tell me all the time how someone will be so lucky to make me their own!  I love playing with my foster sister and brothers, so I hope when I go to my forever home that I have a brother or sister.

My Foster Mom got me this great bone that I love.  It’s a good thing as I love to chew…I guess it is the puppy in me.  My foster home has pet doors and I love to go in the yard or on the porch and sun.  I should never go out without a leash or be in a fenced yard because I am very fast.  I also have a little problem with nipping when I play so small kids at this time would not be good for me.  I am very good at going outside, except when it rains.

When I first came here I slept in a crate and was very well-behaved but I gave them the sad eyes and they let me start sleeping in the BIG BED.  They are such push-overs for me.  LOL!  I sleep all night under the covers and never bother them.  Enough about me.  If you are someone who would give me lots of love and spend time with me, please fill out an application.  I so want a forever home!  I deserve a forever home!  Hope to hear from you soon!

Love, Amos

BIO:  Amos came from a family with 5 dogs that lost their home.  They moved and could only take 2 dogs to their new home so Amos and 2 other dogs were surrendered to AADR.  Amos was shy at first but has come out of his shell and is very sweet and happy boy.

We have only had Amos in our home for a few days but he has adjusted extremely well.  You would never know we had just brought him home.  Amos loves to play and give kisses!  He does nip a little when he gets excited but we are working on the proper way to kiss.  We have pet doors and he mastered that in just a couple of tries.  Amos loves to be held and snuggle with his humans and his other 4-legged friends.  Amos is not yet housetrained but with a little more work, he should have that task mastered also.  We have had no accidents at night in his crate.  He sleeps in his crate at night but the lights need to be turned out so he knows that he is the not the only one going to bed.

Amos is going to be a great pet for a family that wants a loving and playful dog.  If you have questions about Amos, you can email his Foster Mom.  Amos will not be a foster long so don’t wait to apply for this sweet baby!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
