***Needs a fenced yard and a young dog to play with***

Hi there, I’m Zeeba and I am as sweet as they come!  I love giving kisses, playing with my foster brothers, and burrowing (I am a dachshund after all!).  I was abused by my previous owners so I need a forever home that is willing to go slow with me, and have patience while I adjust to my new situation.  I promise I warm up really quickly.  I was sitting in my foster mom’s lap giving her kisses in no time, but I do much better meeting people who come down to my level.  Even though I am friendly and bubbly, I still get scared if someone stands over me or raises their voice even a little.  So pretty please, don’t use any sort of negative punishment on me whatsoever or I will get really scared and can sometimes have an accident as a result.

My foster mom thinks that I would do best in a home with older children only given my past.  I would also really love some doggy brothers or sisters—I was playing with both my 10 and 3-year-old foster brothers in no time.  I’d really rather not be all by myself.  Please email my foster mom at kait.cassell@gmail.com if you have any other questions!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
