BIO: Felix came from southern MS where his owners were surrendering him because they were moving to TX and could not take him. Sadly, they didn’t have him on heartworm prevention and he ended up being heartworm positive. We are treating him and he’ll be ready to go to his new home after the 15th of November.
Felix gets along with all dogs and cats too. He likes to play so another young dog would work best for him. He loves his humans and loves attention! Felix really needs a fenced yard so he can run and play off some of his energy.
If you are interested in knowing more about Felix, please email his foster mom. By the way, Felix is a handsome Dachshund/Beagle mix (a great combo) but everything about him is all doxie!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
