BIO: ***Sissy is an active girl who needs a fenced yard to play in and another dog at home if you work outside the home***

Sissy is lucky to be alive. She was left abandoned in a trailer with 4 other dogs and they ended up chewing their way through a dryer vent to get out. One dog did not make it. A Good Samaritan took them in and got them all spayed and neutered but then realized she could not keep them all so she reached out to rescues to take them. As we stated, Sissy is lucky to be with us. With that being said, we were happy to take her and we’ll do our best to find her a home where nothing bad will happen to her again.

We think Sissy has some beagle in her along with Dachshund and she has this habit of standing on her hind legs like a meerkat! She loves people and would be great with older kids. She just wants to be with her people but does get along with other dogs. Our wish for her would be an active family, and kids to play with her in a fenced yard or take her for a walk. She must be kept on a leash because if loose, she would follow her nose. She sure does not act 7 years old and could actually be younger, maybe 5 years. She did lose some teeth due to poor dental care with the family that had her before but we gave her a fresh dental and she’s ready to go to her forever home, her bags are packed. Make that your home, won’t you?

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
