Copper 1 came to us from a shelter in KY where he was surrendered by his owners don't know why. He does have an under-bite and needed a dental. We got him completely vetted and now he wants to find his forever home. He ADORES his human family, ok with other dogs but really just wants to be in your lap or presence 24/7. He does not care for a crate we think that might be from being a possible breeder dog. He does separation anixety but we are working on it and he is getting better. He is not distructive just vocal when left alone because he misses us. It would be better if went to a home with another dog and a laid back one at that. Someone home most of the time would be good and needs fenced in yard but walks well on a leash. He does great on housebreaking if kept on a schedule. Please help us give Copper 1 the home that he deserves, you will NOT regret it.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
