BIO:   My name is Bella and I am 7 years old.  I came from Georgia as an owner surrender with two other dachshunds from my previous owner.

I recently had multiple tooth extractions due to poor or neglected dental care.  I eat small kibble with chicken broth to soften my food.  I am friendly and love to be cuddled on your lap.  I have no food or fear aggression, nor submissive urination.

I have adjusted to my new foster home, which has five friendly dachshunds to play with.  I enjoy being out in the fenced-in back yard and sleeping in the Big Bed when allowed.

My foster Mom took me to an Assisted Living to meet some of the elderly people.  They were friendly and I enjoyed my visit with them.  They were able to pet me and I enjoyed this very much.  Even the wheel chairs and walkers didn’t scare me.  We had a nice visit.

My Foster Mom has lots of company... I bark a little, but am friendly and jump on laps for attention.  I give kisses when I feel comfortable and safe.  I am housebroken to a doggie door, and when it is closed up I will go to the door, sit and wait until someone lets me out.

I love to be on laps, I am very curious of most things around me, and I am beginning to learn to play with my foster siblings, which makes me happy and I feel like one of the pack.  I can be mischievous at times and snoop around to see what I can find.

I am looking for my forever home... a family who loves animals and I would like a playmate to keep me company.  I would like a family who will help me continue to learn my social skills, and teach me all the “doggie” things I need to learn.

AADR wants what’s the best for me.  They want a family who is committed for the long-haul.  I’m seven years old, so this should be my last forever Home. Open up your heart and home to me and I will learn to love you and be your BEST FRIEND FOREVER given the chance!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
