BIO (update 10/19/17):
Barney has been at his northern foster home in Vermont since September 10th. He is an amazing boy! Barney has such a personality that will surely put a smile on your face. He has fun playing with his brothers, but sometimes has a habit of getting a little cranky. He will be a wonderful new member of any family, with or without other dogs. He will not be able to go to a home with children. I would love to see him go to a home with a fenced yard so he can run around, but it is not required. Checkout Barney's video where he is playing with his foster brothers Dash and Spike. This little guy loves to play so a fenced yard would be fantastic.
Barney walks on a leash extremely well. He usually walks beside or just in front of us and will only pull if there is something really interesting for him to sniff. When it's bed time, all we have to do is mention it to him and he heads right in to his kennel and covers himself up with his blanket. He doesn't make a sound all night. The first day he was here, he had a few accidents inside, but I really think that was nerves as he hasn't had any since. He is doggy door trained or he is very good about giving you a little whimper when he has to go out.
What else can I say? If you're looking for a wonderful dog that can be part of a pack or be the only king in the castle, Barney is your man! His only desires are to be fed, loved, walked, and loved again, and again, and again. If you have any questions about Barney, please contact us and we would love to talk to you about Barney.
BIO: Barney is one of the most laid back dogs I have met and he is a sweet dog! He was surrendered to the shelter in Johnson City, TN and the shelter contacted AADR. This is great news because Barney would make a wonderful addition to any family.
He follows his foster dad all around the house and will stay in your lap as long as you will let him. He DOES NOT like to stay in his crate. He will whimper and whine if he knows you are in the house and he is in his crate. Saying that, he has not had an accident in his crate and he has been trained to go into the crate when being fed.
His house training has mostly been a positive experience, but there have been a few accidents. You need to stay outside with him to make sure he does his business. He is a bit overweight and we are working on getting him about three pounds lighter.
He gets along with the three female mini doxies that belong to the foster dad. Playmates have come over and it has mostly been a good thing. He has gotten along with all females great. The males have mostly been positive, but there have been a few tense moments. We are going to say that female dogs have a green light and male dogs are with reservations.
Barney is a chilled, laid back, and loving dog. He loves being around his people and will make a fantastic companion to any family. Will you give serious consideration to adding this well-mannered gentleman to your household?
