BIO:  Hi everyone, I'm Gracie!  Sadly, I came from a home in northern AL that kept me outside 24/7. Because I was stuck outside and ignored, my fur became so badly matted that they had to shave me down to remove the mats.  Lucky for me someone saw that I was being given away and decided to step in and save me and turn me over to rescue.  I LOVE it here!  First, all I knew at my previous home was staying outside.  At my foster place, they have this thing called a doggie door that I can use to go in and out as I please. The more I've been inside, the better I liked it.  Now, I only go out to do my business and then back in I go!  I love to lay in the doggie beds they have here and they are so good to me.  They said this is only my temporary home, that my real home is out there somewhere and I just have to wait for it.  So here I am... please come and adopt me!  I really want a family to love!

My dream is to have a brother or non-alpha sister.  I must have a fenced-in yard and someone who's home a lot.  But, if you have another pup I’d be fine waiting for you to get home.  Small kids are a no, they scare me, but kids over 8-9 years old would be fine if they respect my space and like a face wash.

If you’d like to know more about me, please email my foster mom.  She’ll love to talk to you about me and how wonderful I am!

Looking for a sweet, solid, dog friendly girl that’s happy to be with you?  Then I’m the one for you!  Apply today... don’t wait because I won’t be here long!

More about Gracie #8 in OH

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
