BIO:  Talk about a friendly (notice his smile in every picture!) STANDARD... Charlie is the man!  He is sweet and friendly to all he meets.  Charlie also gets along with other dogs too.  What more can you ask for?

Charlie came from northern AL where he was being kept outside in a pen along with another dachshund.  At some point, he was someone’s baby.  We don’t know how he went from treasured pet to outside dog, but we promised him that would not happen again so we need your help.

Because his fur was so matted from neglect, we had to shave his fur and let it grow back out while being cared for.  So, even though his fur appears short in his photos, Charlie is a longhair pup.

Standards are known to be more laid back.  Then to have a long-haired standard, that is even more frosting on the cake.  You won’t go wrong with this boy, please email if you are serious about adopting.

Our wish for Charlie is to have a fenced in yard with another dachshund to keep him company when you have to be away from home.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
