Being fostered in Melbourne, Florida

Hi my name is Diamond, I am a black and tan shorthair. I am a very devoted little girl. I protect the people I love very well. I am also very spoiled. I love to play, and go for walks and love to chew on rawhides. I am a special dachshund because I am epileptic, and I must take phenobarbitol to control my seizures. Since my vet has upped my seizure medicine I have not had a seizure in a long time. My mom says I should have been named Shadow because I follow her all over the house. I am a real good watchdog for the house, I bark like I mean it, when I hear someone at the door. I also bark when I want your attention. I have my own special blanket in my crate and bury myself in it when I sleep at night. My blanket goes where I go, I am very attached to it. I love children and get along with them very well. Please give me a chance to be your partner and spend my life with you in a forever home, I love to give kisses and will thank you every day.

Diamond

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about DIAMOND...FL

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
