What a little cuddler!  Asia likes to sit up next to you under your arm and she will cuddle like that for an hour or more!  She’s also a little sun lover and will find a warm spot in the grass to roll around and lie down while the sun beats down on her recharging those Doxie batteries.

She is a bit shy but after she warms up to you, which doesn’t take long, she is a friendly girl.  Then Asia will look into your eyes with love, asking “Are you my mama?  Will you love me forever the way I will love you?”

True to her Doxie nature, if she sees a squirrel in the yard, the chase is on!  She calls to it all the way across the yard until it escapes.  If it goes up a tree, she’ll even try to climb the tree and would stay there forever if allowed!  Asia needs a fenced yard at her new home.

Asia also needs a home with another dog, preferably another Doxie or a Doxie mix.  She had a Doxie mix foster brother and loved him very much but happily for him, he found his forever home.  Asia still has another foster brother but he’s much bigger than a Doxie.  She likes him a lot, but would truly love another Doxie or Doxie mix.  Asia cannot be an only dog.  She even loves the kitty that lives in the house.  He likes her too.

As mentioned earlier, Asia is a bit on the shy side due to an issue when she was a puppy.  She has overcome much of her shyness, but she still wants to have time to check you out and learn to trust.  Asia came in with 4 other dogs from the same household in AL.  The owner could no longer care for them.  She knew it was best to surrender them, but it broke her heart doing so.

If you are looking for a little companion, beautiful, little Asia may be your girl!  Contact her foster mom who can give you more info.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
