BIO: Hi my name is Clyde and I was surrendered to a shelter in Middle Tennessee when the family was going to have a baby.  Worst part of all of this is that I was heartworm positive.  So, now I’m going thru heartworm treatment but as soon as that is done, say around the end of June, I’ll be free of them and ready to move on to my forever home.  I really don’t understand why the family thought I was so bad that I couldn’t welcome a new baby?  I loved them so much and was very loyal to them, but here I am.

I am not a bad dog... I get along with other dogs, am good with people and even good with kids that respect my space, so why did this happen to me?

I would really like to have another dog to cuddle up with and a fenced in yard to call my own, do you have that for me?  Write my foster mom and she’ll tell you what a good, good boy I am.

I just want one more last home for the rest of my life.  Oh, did I tell you other than those nasty heartworms, I’m the picture of perfect health?!

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
