BIO:

Hi, my name is Frank and I came from Birmingham, AL where my family turned me over to a small rescue because they said I didn’t like the husband.  Well, he wasn’t very nice to me that’s why, so why did I lose my happy home because of him?  But on a brighter note, I was heartworm positive and now I’m getting treated.  I’ll be ready to go to my forever home when I finish my treatment in the middle of July. That will give you plenty of time to get your vacation out of the way and prepare your home for ME!!

I really am a sweetie … you just have to come to me slowly and give me time to warm up to you, that’s all.  I really do want attention; can’t you tell from my pictures?  My foster mom wanted to take pictures of me and I wanted a belly rub!

I really want a fenced-in yard and another younger dog to play with because I love to play.  Kids over 10 years that know how to respect my space would be best, and a home that knows I could be shy and let their guests know to give me time to warm up to them.

I’m not just another handsome face... I am the TOTAL package!  Give me the chance to show you how loyal I can be, please!

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
