BIO: Charlie is a lovely senior girl who came to rescue because she could not adjust to the activity of having a toddler in the house.  When a second child arrived, her family decided that she would be happier in a more peaceful home.  Charlie was a little worried when she arrived at her foster home, but has adjusted well and now happily greets foster mom at the door when she gets home.  She is friendly with other dogs, housebroken, and leash trained.  Charlie is about 5 pounds overweight and her new owners will need to continue her diet and exercise program so she can get to a healthy weight.  Charlie was well cared for by her previous family and is a delight to have around!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
