BIO UPDATE 4-3-2017:

Lucky is very aptly named, he is one happy go lucky guy!    He wants a home with a backyard for his favorite activity, bird and squirrel watching! After a long day of honing his watching skills, he wants nothing more than being next to his favorite human for a little down time. If you enjoy spending time in the yard and sofa relaxing at night, Lucky is your boy!

For your viewing pleasure, Lucky has posted a video of him bird and squirrel watching!

BIO:  Lucky is everything his name implies – handsome, sweet, affectionate, well mannered, he's well, lucky!  His color is a gorgeous light red with dark red highlights on his ears and tail, when his coat grows in he is going to turn heads for sure.

Lucky loves a warm lap and playing outside.  He would love a fenced yard so that he may explore and play to his heart's content.  He is not yet leash tested, child tested, or cat tested, but he has a wonderful calm nature.  The family who adopts this sweet boy will be lucky indeed!

Lucky’s bio will be updated after he is in his foster home for a while.  Stay tuned for more.

Good with Dogs, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
