BIO UPDATE FROM LULU (6/26/17): Hey everybody, thanks for checking-in! I just wanted to let you know that I am doing great in my foster home and I LOVE my foster brother!! Check-out our four playtime videos below. He has helped me overcome some of my shyness. Be ready to play, because I am! Or have another younger dog for me to play with, I really need this.
A fenced-in yard is a must!
BIO: Lulu came from a shelter in northern AL where she was taken after her special needs person could no longer care for her. She was terrified and we were asked if we would take her. Since she is a dachshund mix, we said we would. Lulu huddled in our kitchen for 2 days but finally asked to come out and within an hour she was in our laps. Now she loves lap time and will ask to come up!
We believe Lulu was an only child but she does like to play with younger dogs when she gets used to them. She’s very sweet but loud noises scare her and sometimes it can be you just raising your voice. We are not sure what kind of environment Lulu came from, but we don’t think she was well-socialized so she’ll need further work on that.
Lulu goes in a crate just fine when you have to leave, and will sit and wait for your return. She’s not a big barker, but will bark.
We think Lulu would do fine with an active family, enjoying walks in quiet neighborhoods, so no apartments or busy streets. We think a family where someone is home a lot and maybe has another younger dog to play with would be very good for her. A fenced-in yard is a MUST. Also, Lulu CANNOT be left outside when the family is gone because she’ll climb a chain link fence.
If you’re interested in knowing more about this beauty, please email her foster mom. Thank you for thinking of rescue!
