Miss Pepper is a nine-pound ball of sweetness. She totally amazes me every day with her love of people. Pepper came to rescue from a hoarder situation with 14 other dogs. She and the other dogs were left alone with someone coming by every now and again to feed them. Pepper has had very minimum interaction with people and for this reason she DOES submissive pee. She will need a home that is willing to take the time to build a relationship of trust with her.
This girl loves the outdoors she has been known to pretend like she is pottying so she can stay outside longer. She will require a fenced in backyard with plenty of room to run.
If you’re looking for a companion that will love you unconditionally, this is your girl. She will need some work, but it’s well worth the effort. If you think she might make a great addition to your family, please contact her foster mom… you won’t regret it!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
