BIO:

Hi All! My name is Happy and I’m a dachshund/miniature pinscher mix. My foster dad tells me I’m the cutest boy he’s ever seen!   AADR took me in with an un-bonded female friend.   I am a high energy little boy that likes to run around my foster dad’s yard at full speed.   I like to play fetch with my toy until my foster dad tells me it’s time to come inside!

I am potty-trained, but I need to be kept on a schedule as my foster dad has caught me trying to pee inside a few times.   I’m working on my leash training, but my foster dad says that will improve over time.   I like to take long walks on the trail near George Washington’s house, but I can’t figure out who that is even though foster dad keeps talking about him!

From foster Dad Dan: Happy is a really great dog and he has grown really attached to my wife and I after a few days.   He is really loving, listens well and just wants to please us.   Because he is so high-energy, he will need a home that will “wear him out” so to speak everyday because he really needs to get his energy out. We are recommending a home with a fenced-in yard and a family with children over ten years old.   Anyone who adopts Happy will realize what a great boy he is right away.

More about Happy.....VA

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
