BIO: Hi there, my name is Zoey and, yep, I sure am cute!! I’m smaller than my two sisters and they try to pick on me, but I hold my own thank YOU very much. I love to play with them and I’m very sweet if I do say so myself. We were dumped in a shelter with our mom by our previous owner, guess they didn’t want any of us. Mom is looking for her very own home and she was a good momma, but she said we had to find our own way in the world, so here I am asking you to please consider me as your forever friend. I can live up to 17 years so don’t adopt me just to change your mind down the road 'cause I won’t understand if you give me up... I didn’t when we ended up in the shelter.

The rescue says I’m doing really well on puppy pad training and I’m bettin’ if you take me out on a schedule, that I’d soon be house trained. Because I am so young I can only hold it for about 2 hours at a time so if you work, you’d have to have someone willing to come let me out and if you can’t do that, it’s probably not going to work for us.

I would love a fenced in yard and another younger doggie to play with, or even a young kitty! I look forward to maybe you being my forever parents.

Oh, the rescue thinks mom is either a “poorly bred dachshund” or a “chiweenie”, whatever those two mean and dad, well he skipped town and mom’s not talking, but she does get a dreamy look in her eyes when we ask her about him.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
