Jasmine is a sweet dog who would make a great companion. She came from a breeder who abandoned her after she had many litters of puppies. Jasmine can spend hours just lazing about beside you on the couch or snuggled under her blankie.  At the same time, she very much enjoys a walk, and getting to see new places and areas. She is fine in the car and is always ready to go. She has not had any issues being home alone. She does not chew things or tear things up.  She will follow her owner around and make sure she knows what you're doing, but she rarely gets in the way.  She may have a hard time trusting you at first, but you will know she does once she rolls over and let you rub her belly. She likes to sleep in a dog bed near her master's bed.

Most importantly, she's very cute.  Her expressions are delightful. She throws her blankie all over the couch until it's just where she wants it. She is hard of hearing, but this doesn't affect things much, other than the fact that she sometimes doesn't come when called.  She is mostly house-trained to use a doggy door and definitely understands the concept of the "back door" as a place to go when she wants to go outside. Jasmine only has teeth on the lower front.  Her lack of teeth also causes her tongue to sometimes hang out when she sleeps.  This sounds bad, but it's actually VERY cute and endearing.  Her only health issue is that she takes an allergy pill every few days so that she doesn't get itchy.

Jasmine deserves someone willing to give her lots of love.  She had a rough start in life and would like a home where she can enjoy the rest of her life.  Isn't that what we all want?

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
