BIO: My name is Coco, and I was totally misunderstood by my previous owners who said that I was slow to get to know people and wasn’t housetrained. I gave my foster Mommy a kiss the minute I met her, and have been giving out kisses to everyone I have met since! I am sweet, cuddly, and love attention and lap sitting. I am just the cutest little girl that you have ever seen! My hair is soft but scruffy looking, with a slight silver color tipping the ends. I have a Mohawk and whiskers which really add character to my appearance!

I don’t like a crate, but like to cuddle in a doggy bed or on the sofa. I will get in the big bed as long as my foster sisters aren’t sharing it, but prefer to sleep in a doggy bed beside the big bed rather than sleeping with a crowd. Although I have gotten along well with my foster sisters, I am a little bit shy about sharing close quarters with them. My foster Mommy thinks I may have had a scary experience with a bossy dog in my past. I am doing very well with housetraining as long as you take me out every couple of hours. I have been asking to go out if my foster Mommy gets busy and forgets, and have slept all night in my doggy bed without accidents. I have a very soft mouth when taking a treat from your hand, and just have an overall sweet and gentle attitude.

My former people reported that I didn’t do well with small children, so I will need a home with older kids (8 and over) who have been taught to properly interact with and respect a girl’s space. Even then, interaction with new kids should be supervised to make sure I don’t get scared and bite.

Could you be my new family?  I sure hope so!

More about Coco Pebbles......AL

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
