BIO:  Hello everyone, my name is Clyde.  I currently live in a wonderful foster home in Vermont, but I am looking very forward to finding a Fur-Ever Home to call my own.  I am an extremely playful puppy who is full of so much energy.  I enjoy having a fully fenced in yard that I can run and run in to burn off all my energy (and you’ll appreciate it as well as it helps me sleep better at night).

My foster dad says that I am a Dachshund Mix.  I’m not sure what that means, but he says he sees either Rottweiler or Pittie in me.  Either way he says I am very adorable.   My ideal new home would have other dogs that like to play.  I get along with most dogs, as long as they remember I am still a puppy.   I sleep well in my crate after only a few minutes of crying; I quickly settle in and sleep all night without making a peep!  If you want me to, I will sleep on the big bed all curled up next to you.  I go on walks really well on a leash, but my foster dad says my leash needs to have a chain lead on it because I like to chew on them and have already ruined two of them in the first week I’ve been here (remember, I said I’m a puppy... I know how to be a good boy, it’s just sometimes I forget).

When it’s feeding time, I am really good, but if there are other dogs around, you should watch me because every now and then I’ll growl and snap at them if they get too close.  I really like other people and meet everyone with my tail wagging and all the kisses they can handle.

If you have any other specific questions about me, please contact my foster parents and they will be happy to talk to you about me.  If you’re looking for a great addition to your family please consider me.  I promise to put a smile on your face every day!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
