BIO: Will be updated soon!

Copper is one handsome fella, and his personality is even sweeter! If you are looking for a snuggler or lap buddy, look no further than Copper. This little guy wants nothing more than to romp around the yard for a few minutes, and then jump in your lap for a nice nap. He’s very sweet, very social, and cute as can be! His coat is extremely soft and he has big ole paws for his little body. A sweetheart all around, Copper is impossible not to love!

He gets along great with my 2 dachshunds, they were falling asleep on each other in no time. He’s quite mild-mannered and so far has done well with the people and dogs he has encountered. He does NOT do well with cats according to his former owner, so a home with no cats is best for this little guy.

He is definitely not shy, and he will beg for food till the cows come home! He is also a more vocal dachshund; he barks (not excessively, but more than my two dachshunds). He also has some housebreaking issues but we’re working on that and he's doing well. He does not seem to know how to tell you when he needs to go out. He does have some issues chewing on paper and occasionally other items: he’s tried chewing on his harness, a cord, and one or two other items but has not caused any real damage.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
