BIO: Hi everyone out there, I am Klaus, a handsome chocolate based cream long haired Dachshund! My foster mom didn’t even know chocolate based creams were a thing but that’s what the paperwork I came with says. She really thinks I am more of a golden color, and tells me how beautiful I am. I am only 9 months old and am not sure why I was given up. The people I lived with before said I barked at the kids and men, but I think maybe that wasn’t quite the case.
I have been with my foster mom and dad for about two weeks, I am very, very shy and skittish around men and children. My foster mom said I wasn’t socialized and she has been working on socializing me. The more I see the same person, the faster I warm up to them. I warmed up to my foster mom right away and like my foster dad enough. He feeds me and gives me treats, and I let him pet me when I am on foster mom’s lap or on the bed with them. I would need to go to a home that only has women or a couple where my furever dad would give me space and time to learn he loves me too.
I have some great qualities! I am house trained, but am not really good at saying hey I need to go out, I just pace around and if no one’s paying attention, I will go on the puppy pad instead. I love my foster brothers and sister, but they are older and don’t want to play as much. I love the squeaky toys and have been getting much better walking on the leash, sometimes I’ll just sit down because I don’t feel like walking. I do not pull on the leash, and foster mom says that is a good thing. I am also crate trained and will sleep on a doggie bed in my foster parents’ room or on the big bed if they let me.
I am looking for my furever home and I would be a lifetime commitment, as I am only 9 months old, I could live for another 15-18 years. I would prefer a fenced in yard, and a brother or sister to play with. I need to go to a home that will continue to socialize me and that is only women or a couple who will understand my needs, teenagers are ok, but no little children. They move too fast and scare me too much. If you are interested in a very sweet loving puppy, I’m your guy!
