BIO: Meet the sweetest little girl! This is Fiona and don't let her little gray face deceive you. Just look at those big brown eyes! She is such a love and if you are looking for a lapdog, here you go. She is quiet and gets along with everybody. We have 3 doxies of our own and 1 cat and everyone loves each other. When she came into rescue she was skin and bones, but she has since put some weight on and her fur is shiny now. Amazing what good food and TLC can do! I believe she came from a backyard breeder and I think she was an outside dog. Her ears were scabby due to not being  treated either from a  yeast infection or bug bites. Her tail was missing the top layer of hair but is growing back slowly and it will take time. She also appears to have had several litters.

Fiona's personality is a pleaser. She loves everyone and is so happy when we come home. She will jump up and down with joy when she sees you! We have been working on the house training and she has come a long way, but this is still a work in progress. She is crate trained and goes into her crate at night to sleep. She does not jump on furniture and will wait till you pick her up.

We think her age is around 8-9 years old, but don't let that stop you... she is a young girl at heart!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
