BIO: update 03/29

Hi, my name is Crook! Don’t let my name fool you; the only crime I commit is stealing hearts. I think I got my name because my tail is crooked, which my foster mom tells me is adorable.

If you love to cuddle, I am the dog for you! My favorite thing is to curl up next to my foster parents and just relax. I love attention, but if you are busy I’m happy to just sit and watch you do what you have to do. However, play time is great too! I love playing in the backyard with my foster sisters. I don’t like all male dogs, but I’m great with female doggies.

I really need a fenced in yard and another dog (ladies only please) to run with-- that’s my dream, a home of my own. You see, my previous owner lived in the country in Northern AL and turned me in along with another dachshund because she was afraid that the hawks would attack me and kill me. So while she was very sad, she felt it was best to save me and put me in the shelter because she knew they worked with this rescue.

I am potty trained, and I know how to walk on a leash. I am crate trained, but I don’t really like being in the crate very much—I would much rather be next to you!

Please can you help me find my forever home? It would make my day if you’d fill out an application to adopt me—I’d be so happy!

Love,

Crook in AR

Hi my name is Crook, well that’s what my old owners named me cause I have a crook on the end of my tail. My rescue mom thinks I was born that way. Just like all standards, I’m a laid back kinda guy.

I love attention but if you are busy I’m happy to just sit/lay and watch you do what you have to do but I’m also happy when you are relaxing and I can relax with you.

I really need a fenced in yard and another dog (ladies only please) to run with, that’s my dream, a home of my own.

You see my previous owner lived in the country in Northern AL and turned me in along with another dachshund because she was a afraid that the hawks would attack me and kill me. So while she was very sad, she felt it was best to save me and put me in the shelter cause she knew they worked with this rescue.

I don’t like all males so my foster mom is saying “no” males, but I’m great with female doggies.

Please can you help me and adopt me? I’d be so happy! If you are close to Nashville you could come see me at the Dachshund Halfway House and that way you could see what a great guy I am!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
