BIO:  I was put on Craig List in KS, being given away by a college student! Lucky for me AADR stepped in and took me and then I made my long journey from KS to TN where I was vetted and my teeth were made clean again. Unfortunately, because I had been neglected medically, I did lose some teeth but I can still eat hard food with the best of them. I was fed junk food too so I had to learn not to beg, but if you’re sitting and eating, I’m at attention... what’s wrong with that??

Sadly, they kept a belly band on me so long it wore a groove around my middle right in front of my hind legs, but that’s ok because I don’t need one now. I hold no ill feeling for the way I was treated back then because now is what’s important and I have a foster dad that loves me and is looking for the perfect home for me.

First DON'T let my age scare you off. I’m a very young 11 years and will even play with the younger crowd! I would love to have a fenced in yard but I don’t have to have another dog to keep me company, but would love one if you’re gone to work or play.

I walk great on a leash and just want to please you. Are you ready for me because I’m sure ready to spend the rest of my life with someone that will love me and take care of me like I should be.  Please contact my foster dad if you’d like any further info on me but I can tell you I’m worth the effort to adopt me!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
