BIO:

Hi everyone, my name is Copper! I am a 9-year-old, handsome, red smooth-coat Dachshund. My foster mom says I am a miniature who may need to lose a pound. I was what she calls an “owner” surrender. My previous human could no longer care for me as she had a hard time getting around so she called my foster mom for help and that is how I ended up in foster. I sure am sad and I miss her, but I know it is for the best.

My foster mom says I am just cute as a button and have the sweetest personality ever! I am a really good doggie and I am house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. I walk really good on the leash and I hardly bark at all, so I would do well in an apartment/condo or in a house with a fenced yard. I get along great with the other doggies in the house and I am even ok with the cat. I just ignore her, so I can live in a home with cats too!

My absolute favorite thing is to sit in foster mommy’s lap, I want to be cuddled up with her all the time, although I know I have to share her lap with the other doggies. I also like to sit in foster dad's lap, and cuddle with my foster brothers and sister. The squeakys are fun and I play with everyone every once in a while, but prefer being with my humans. I sleep in the crate at night with my foster brother but would do great sleeping in the big bed if you’d let me.

I have to go to the vet on Monday since my rabies shot is coming up and also have to have a dental, but other than that I will be good to go. Do I sound like the right Dachshund for you? If so, please fill out an application at www.allamericandachshundrescue.org and email my foster mom at iteresa13@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
