BIO: Hi, my name is Buster!

Are you looking for a devoted companion? If so, I'm the guy for you. I'll often be found only a few steps behind you looking up at you in adoration.

I love to play fetch! I can play that game all day long! You throw the toy and I'll go get it, bring it back, and drop it for you to throw again. It's so much fun for me! Although playing fetch is one of my favorite things, I can get a little excited and go for the toy while it's still in your hand. Sometimes I accidentally get your fingers.  I don't mean to - I'm just excited.  Because of this, only an adult should play fetch with me.  Safety first!  Fun second!

Do you like to sit on the couch watching TV or sit in a recliner reading? That's ok too because I'm content to lay by your side. It might be my second favorite thing after fetching. Did I mention I love to fetch?

I'm getting much better letting my fosterer know when I need let outside. Right now I go to the back door and my fosterer notices me there and let's me out. I get lots of praise after that!

I also love car rides. My fosterer takes me to visit his family which is a couple hours away. They have lots of other dogs there for me to meet and play with, so I've been socialized, too!

I was surrendered when a couple separated. I'm hoping my next home is truly my forever home! I deserve it! And you deserve me!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
