BIO: Abby was an owner surrender of someone who just didn’t want to care for a senior dog. She is wondering what she did wrong since she had been with her owner for 14 years. She has adjusted well in her foster home, considering.

Her foster mom says don’t take her age for granted because she does still have a little spunk left in her. She has played some with her foster brothers and does run through the house a little. Abby would have been a real good mother because she likes to give her foster brothers a bath. Abby still has a lot of love to give to her new mom or dad. She loves to relax on the couch and cuddle with her foster mom and would love to cuddle with her new family!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
