From: Alex Hi, my name is Alex my foster mommy calls me her little brat. I am so cute and cuddly and I also LOVE to play and chew but am easily redirected to chew the right things. I usually whine when I have to go potty but not all the time so you just have to keep an eye on me and I will not mess in the house. I am a very strong willed little boy so an experienced Dachshund owner is a must. I have been very spoiled since coming into rescue and come with a blanket, food and water bowls and a bunch of toys. If you are looking for a fun little guy thats full of energy than I am your man. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE. From Alex2 first foster mom: Alex2 was saved from drowning. A man gave away all his brothers and sisters and told the employees at a tractor supply place that if someone did not take him the owner was going to throw him in the river to get rid of him. Some people do that when they don't want puppies or kittens. For this reason we want a very special home for Alex2, he deserves it for the angel stepping in and saving him from certain death. Please be his other special angel and give him the home he so richly deserves.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
