BIO: Fritz was surrendered by his owner when they were left homeless and could no longer care for him. It was just in time too because the location where he was surrendered said they thought he was dead when he arrived. It’s hard to imagine what he went through and it’s a wonder he’s even still with us, but we are so thankful.

Fritz has hit the rescue lottery now! He’s safe with his foster mom and dad, and brother and sister. He’s living the good life and doesn’t have a care in the world. He is still pretty over-weight and is on a very strict diet, but he doesn’t have a food aggression so his new diet doesn’t bother him at all. He follows his foster mom around and when she’s in the kitchen cooking...he’ll just go camp out in his crate until it’s time to relax in the living room. He has a very playful side to him and is getting plenty of exercise, which is great.

He does well on a leash, in a car, with kids, other dogs and even cats. That’s a trifecta with a dachshund! He’s a loving, loving dog and gives lots of kisses. We think it’s his way of saying thanks. Fritz does have skin allergies but it is well-controlled with medication. Since Fritz loves to be with his humans so much, we think it would be best if he went to someone that is home a good bit of the time or has another pup as a playmate. Please call for more details on this sweet, precious boy!

More about Fritz....PA

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
